After circling the cabanas and reaching the edge of the island, we saw a sad reality. In stark contrast with the beauty of Island Cove, the river that runs alongside it is unclean, foul-smelling and full of floating trash. I was able to get a snapshot of a little boy on a little boat as he swiftly rowed away:
It was a tiring walk so after some time we decided to go back to our hut and rested for a while. While resting I caught sight of these four plants all in a straight row:
Our next stop is the Animal Island. A giant cannon greeted as as we entered:
Pictures of the animals will be next. See you in the next post!

Island Cove Adventure: A Giant Chess, A Lake & Circular Stuffs
It was a great sunny day and it's very nice to roam around. There was another company also having a teambuilding so we decided to go where there were fewer persons around. We immediately saw the giant chess pieces right outside the entrance to Oceania. Those chess pieces were just screaming to have their pictures taken. Afterwards, we went around some more and saw the edge of the island near the lake and beside the cabanas.
Here are some of the shots that I took during this time:

Island Cove Adventure: Trellises & Creepy Things
Our first stop were the trellises. I like trellises. They have an air of mystery around them. One could just imagine the creepy vines as they weave their way in and around those posts with some even breaking through the concrete. The interweaving shadows that were created as the sunlight hits the parallel wooden bars and the old, rusty wrought-iron lamps added so much to the ambience. The occasional flowers that have sporadically sprung forth gave an overall feeling of loneliness and solitude to the place. And that's what makes it a perfect subject for us shutterbugs.

Island Cove Adventure: Teaser
Last Saturday, we went to our Company Outing at Island Cove in Cavite. We had a great time, not just because of the free food and the R&R but because it was also a great time for photography. Here are some teaser pictures. Complete set in upcoming posts.

Die-Cast Exhibit: Matchbox Cars
Seeing this awesome display of Matchbox cars brought tears to my eyes. As a kid I had a nice collection of Matchbox cars courtesy of my Dad. But as a playful I kid, I played the heck out of those cars (usually in my very own Demolition Derby matches) and those that survived, suffered the same fate through my little brother. So in short, they were now gone. If only I knew then how much they are worth today then I might have displays similar to these.

I won 3rd Place in the Nikon Club Philippines Photo of the Month for June 2011!!!
WOW! I'm so happy that my entry won 3rd Place in the Nikon Club Philippines (NCP) Photo of the Month (PotM) for June 2011!!! :)
Here's the description for June's theme:
And here's what one of the judges had to say:
Here's the description for June's theme:
June Theme: Saranggola ni Pepe.
Description: Song interpretation of the song Saranggola ni Pepe.
This is a song interpretation and not just the saranggola itself. The content of your photos need not require a saranggola in it but your own interpretation of the song itself. You could also portray on your photos some parts of the lyrics and not limit yourself on the saranggola only. Here is my entry:
And here's what one of the judges had to say:
Related to the writer's interpretation but with added meaning from the photographer's point of view. It has very good composition and colors are blending well which also adds to the drama of the photograph. Overall sharpness is ok. If he intended that the flag be not as focused he could have lower the fstop a little to change the DOF.Very nice words and oh so inspiring! Now I'm ready for the NCP PotM for July 2011 :)

Finally received my GetGlue stickers!!!
I was a skeptic at first but after some time, I just got so carried away at checking in to my favorite movies and shows in GetGlue that it became a minor obsession. It was fun just looking at my online collection of stickers but nothing compared to receiving the actual physical stickers! It is great that they have mailed my stickers all the way from New York to Manila, and for free. I can't wait for my next batch :)
